You never know if you really are getting the correct price posted to you check, even with a coupon.Dining out in Myrtle Beach can be a little tricky for folks on a budget, but affordable and delicious meals can be found if you are willing to be a bit flexible. This should be common practice in a place where 98% of patrons are going to eat the buffet. The only thing I don't like is that they do not post the price of the buffet and you have to ask about it. The place was not busy at all, but he couldn't seem to find his way back to our table that often. We were "served" by a male who could barely speak the language and whose name I can't recall, probably because he was absent most of the night. Our last night, on the 11th of September we were not so blessed. While we could tell English was not her native language, she knew how to speak easily with us. She was cordial, knowledgeable and attentive. One night we had a dear waitress, Anne, I believe her name was. I know its sea food and it’s salty, but my husband said the chowder was very salty and I had a hand of crab legs that was really salty. I can't think of a single thing that was bad except some stuff was extremely salty this trip. I dearly love the she-crab soup I have never found another that is as good as theirs. We love Captain George's and always plan two visits there when we are in the MB area. I am glad I decided to test Captain George's for myself because it was a delight. ![]() Often times I will take the bad reviews (and crazy customer experiences) with a grain of salt. Some may argue that you shouldn't have to and in a perfect world you wouldn't ( I didn't during my visit) but I would be ok if I had to. But all you have to do is mention this to your server. Of course anytime you eat at a buffet there are times when the trays may get cold. But the service was great and the food was good. Overall, I went to George's under great skeptisism. The dessert bar was good! Lots of choices there too. ![]() And I agree with some of the others that wrote reviews. ![]() Quality lettuce and other sides, like pasta salads and the like. My favorite soup when done right, and George's was just right! I didn't try the salad bar but it looked fine. And let me add that the clam chowder was superb. And I was assured by my server that if they weren't he would get me some that were. There were plenty of fried offerings ( shrimp, scallops, oysters, clam strips, chicken, etc), as well baked/broiled (mahi mahi, salmon, chicken, blackened pork), and prime rib and sides.the crab legs were fresh and steaming every time I went up for more. The variety offered at the buffet was plentiful. Nothing fancy or romantic, but then again neither is the thought of eating plate upon plate of steaming crab legs. It definitely calmed my nerves while creating a pleasant ambiance. I will start by saying that the building is nice and clean. Even if someone said that Captain George's legs came adorned with parasites (dead or alive). A friend mentioned Benjamin's but they never answered their phones and their website said their crab meat was imitation. After reading many terrible reviews for Captain George's I kept looking in the area. I was in Myrtle Beach to see The Grand Cirque this weekend and decided I wanted to to start the night right with some tastey seafood. ![]()
